El Fede

Amber stayed over the night she got the call. She had been getting reports all day about what was going on with Fede and the accident. The chilling, high-pitched cry that woke me up will haunt me for years to come, I have no doubt. The room was barely lit and when I heard her crying his name, it felt like I could see the mountain top through the darkness. The room was cold and empty and his lingering presence in this world was fading. The room felt extremely heavy and time stopped.   Ever since that night, I have been afraid of the dark and her shriek that lies within.

I am saddened that the world will go on without him and the fact that he will no longer be a part of our lives. But the biggest tragedy is watching and feeling Amber go through her loss. What she must be feeling without her other half,  her best friend. What lost future she is mourning. Every little detail of her daily life that will remind her of him and bring the ache flooding back. Wondering how she will survive without him.

It is all so horribly sad and tragic.

Fede touched many people’s lives, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

  1. Chelsea, I’m so sorry for your loss. We almost lost my BIL 2 weeks ago and I totally understand your worry/sadness for you sister. That is how I feel for mine. It is so hard and you just aren’t sure what they need but you know you want to bring happiness back to their lives. Sorry this all happened right before you leave, I am sure that is making it hard to leave next week.

  2. I am so sad that your family is going through such a hard time. I really only met him once or twice probably. But I always just remember that Amber was so happy and proud when she spoke about him.

Even though, nothing really helps to take away the pain, please let us know if we can do anything at all to help you guys with this, or with anything else before the big move.

  3. I am so so sorry for Amber and your families loss. You all will be in our thoughts. We are sending peace and love your way.

  4. Amber, ever since meeting you this past summer in Guatemala I’ve been touched by your kindness and fortunate to have shared in the love you have for others esp. those we travel the world to learn more about. You have a quiet strength about you…may it be your salvation as you face this most unimaginable pain. Please know how sorry I am to hear the news and can’t imagine it. My heart breaks for you. You are in my thoughts and prayers. With Love, Audra
