the big day

wow, that was damn fast. it seriously seems like a month ago that andy was tellin me that he proposed to jessica, and now its here, and he’s gettin married this weekend! gonna be in vegas all weekend, which is cool, gonna play some games, see the sights, and get pa’shlunkah’d. (drunker than snot).

i also got a call yesterday from someone who left a message on my voice mail that i couldn’t understand at all, thank god for caller id, so i called whoever it was back and left a message for them. got a call today from my friend matt (hypa) who asked me if i would like to play at bricks tonight, which is a local techno club, and i’m all for it, except that i haven’t played in quite a while, so i told him that next week would be better and he said that would be fine. so i’m playin at bricks next thurs!!  first time playin at a club EVER!  needless to say, i’m pretty frickin excited about it. been spinnin records off and on for about 7 yrs, and i finally get to play at a club.

so i’ll have more updates after the wedding and the mixing debut of Geoff Williams at Club Bricks (a private club for members) ;)

this weekend… again

wow this last weekend was frickin busy!  i took my last two tests on thursday for the semester, and am now graduated from slcc with an a.s. degree in physics!

then on friday we went to lagoon (a sorta wanna-be amusement park here in utah) for my dad’s work party, had all sortsa fun there. i went swimming in the waterpark there with my little brother and sister. then when my girl finally showed up, we went and had dinner, then rode on some crazy ass new ride they have that scares the SHIT out of you! (plus some others ;) ) and we finally left there about 11 pm, got home and fell asleep around midnight.

woke up the next morning at 6 to drive my ass down to sanpete for a golf tournament that was at a really nice course down there. but on the way, as i was just leaving home, i saw the most awesome, inspirational sunrise i think i’ve ever seen or will ever see again. its not describable in words, so i’m not gonna try, but trust me, it was cool.

when i finally got to the golf course at around 9 (after a 2 hour drive) we started to play, and i have to tell you, this course is amazing for being in the middle of the desert on the side of a mountain. nice greens and fairways and the grass was amazingly green and soft. but the cool part was on the 5th hole, i came within an inch of hittin my first eagle. the ball had hit the hole and bounced out on my second shot, but i putted it in for a birdie… my first ever!  and the hole before that was on a cliff face that was pretty much a tee box, cliff, then green. so it was not forgiving at all, but the opportunity was too great and i pulled out my driver and whacked a ball off into the canyon.  =)

then the golf tournament was over and we headed back up to spring city to go to a lamb roast that my boss was having there, and ate some good food, and left around 3 in the afternoon for the nice long drive back home.

but when we got there, the weekend wasn’t over…  we left for park city to meet up with my girls parents to go up into the uintahs to camp for the night, but the fire danger is so high that there are signs everywhere that say no campfires allowed, but when we got to the campsite, my girlie’s sister and her friend had started a fire, and were sittin around it all warm and stuff. so we told them, and they ignored us, and a little while later, just as my hotdog was finishin up, some rangers came around and told us that it was a $100 fine for EACH person that was in the campsite with the fire. they let us off with a warning thankfully, but we had no fire the rest of the night. so we played some cards then went to bed.

when we woke up in the morning, we headed for the provo river falls not too far from where we were, checked them out, then headed home after an hour or so of hiking around.

when we finally got home, we ordered some pizza, rented a few movies and chilled the rest of the night.

and now i’m back at slcc for the last time, finishing up all the things i need to do to transfer to the u and the crazy busy weekend is over.

so…    that’s it.

stupid forum

every time i get just about done upgrading my board with various mods, images, goodies, etc. the peeps over at invision services come out with a new update to the codes, so i have to go through and re-install just about everything on the board. kind of annoying, and i know i don’t have to do it, but i’ve always gotta have the best stuff for my friends to use. so right now, i’m currently workin on gettin my forums workin the way they were before this update, and also gettin all of my links on the whole site updated to reflect the addition of my new photo gallery area which can be found here: http://www.iohelix.net/photos or in the links on the right side of this page.

i still can’t decide what template to use on the photos page, but oh well, i guess that’s life, and i have more important things to worry about, such as finals coming up, a take home test i should be doing, registering for the U which starts in like 20 days (3 weeks), and trying to keep my money problems under control.

but its nice to get away from all of that stuff for a while and just get immersed into the computer and workin on stuff that gives me a real sense of accomplishment,  so…   gonna go get myself a sense of accomplishment!  =)

LAN party!!

i bought a new computer on fri. cost about $2000 after taxes and extras and games and all that good stuff. the specs for the system i bought can be found on the totally awesome computers website.

it’s got a lanboy case that is light as all hell, with a window and some phatty blue lights on the interior. so i had to test out this new system so i took it to a lan party that some friends of mine were havin and…  HOLY CRAP!! i was doin about 400x better than on my old 350 MHz system that could barely handle 480×340 res on CS!  so it was so much more fun than i had remembered, or had previously on my old system, which by the way, weighs about 40 lbs and is encased in a full size tower that stands about 2 ft tall from the floor!  not too easy to transport.

but my new system is not quite complete, i had upgraded to a 19″ monitor that was on back order and i should get it sometime this week. its a mark better than the 17″ loaner i have right now.

anywho… there are a few more items on my list that i would like to buy for it, mousepads, more lights, etc. but they’ll hafta wait until after my friends wedding.

the weekend!!

so its only tuesday, but i’m pretty excited for the weekend!  it’s gonna be a fun couple o days.
for some reason i have this feeling that thurs will be a pretty good day to be at school, either because everybody will be so anxious to get out of there for the weekend that they wont want to do school stuff and pretty much take over the class and have a ball with it, or i’ll be so excited that i won’t care that much, either way…

then on friday… it’s the 4th and we’ve got a pretty good party/bbq planned, pretty excited about that, because then i get to spin records, which is always good, 90% of my friends are planning on being there, and that’s the whole reason for a party, isn’t it?

then on saturday… i’m going to my second airsoft game, the first was two weeks ago and it was a BLAST! it was so fun to go running around playin “let’s pretend i’m an army boy”.  got shot a couple of times, didn’t really hurt more than the pride, but i got a couple of them pretty good. you can check out the website for the team i play with here: tac4 airsoft website

anywho… workin on a mod for my board lately that i can’t quite get working right, but i’m learnin, and it’s comin along…

terragen and airsoft

so i downloaded terragen today. yeah…    it’s pretty dope. i made a new page for the images i create with terragen that can be seen here: http://www.iohelix.net/photos/thumbnails.php?album=14 i really like how the clouds and water looks in terragen, it’s a lot better than in bryce, although bryce definitely is the one for creating 3d shapes and images.   i’m already thinkin of ways that i can incorporate some nice halo effects into terragen using halosim.

my friend told me yesterday that he would buy an airsoft gun if i paid him back. so now we can go to the tac4 thingy, cept the dumb honky forgot that he had to work on saturday =(  so, we are goin to order a gun for me and go the next time they have a tactical training course. kinda bummed, but oh well. at least i get a gun on ‘credit’ out of the deal.  =)
